On 4 May 2026, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) held its traditional József nádor (Palatine Joseph) Commemorative Medal ceremony and wreath‑laying to honour the university’s historic namesake. During the event, the bust of Archduke Joseph, Palatine of Hungary, located in the K Building, was ceremonially decored with wreaths.
As part of the ceremony, the Palatine Joseph Commemorative Medals, donated by the Habsburg family, were awarded to the most outstanding students of each faculty who achieved the highest scores in the National Higher Education Scholarship programme. The event was attended by representatives of BME leadership, as well as Archduke Joseph Karl of Habsburg‑Lorraine and Archduchess Margarete.
From the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences (BME GTK), the award was presented to Alexandra Bankó. BME GTK congratulates Alexandra Bankó and all award‑winning students from the other faculties on their outstanding academic achievements.
