BME Achieves Outstanding Success in the EELISA Joint Academic Call

2026.07.30.

The Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences (GTK) has played a prominent role in BME’s outstanding success in the latest EELISA (European Engineering Learning Innovation and Science Alliance) Joint Academic Call. Two of the university’s eight coordinated projects are led by GTK colleagues, Dr. Máté Zöldy and Dr. Péter Zrubecz, highlighting the Faculty’s strong contribution to the university’s international educational achievements.

The two projects are as follows:

EELISA-CE (Design and Development of an EELISA Joint Master Degree in Circular Economy)Joint DegreeBMEUPMProf. Dr. Máté Zöldy
Designing Digital Transformation: AI-enabled Processes, Systems and GovernanceJoint CourseBMEFAUDr. Peter Zrubecz

Overall, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) will coordinate eight of the 35 selected projects while participating in four additional initiatives, making it the most active institution among the alliance’s member universities. Supported by a total budget of €237,000, the call funds a wide range of innovative educational collaborations across the EELISA alliance, such as the development of innovative, ECTS-accredited educational activities aimed at strengthening collaboration among EELISA’s ten partner universities. As Hungary’s representative in the alliance, BME plays a leading role in advancing new educational initiatives with a strong international focus.

Among the most significant results is the approval of three new joint degree initiatives. BME participates in all three and serves as the lead institution in two of them: EELISA-CE (Circular Economy) and City Design and Development MSc, developed in cooperation with partner universities in Madrid and Paris.

In addition, BME will coordinate projects focusing on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, mobility studies, structural engineering, construction information technology, and micro-credential programmes. Several further initiatives involve collaboration with leading institutions such as Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).

The selected projects will further expand EELISA’s academic portfolio, strengthen international cooperation, and create new mobility and learning opportunities for students and staff across Europe.

Congratulations to all BME coordinators, lead applicants, and their teams on their excellent achievement and their successful projects.
