EELISA Joint Master’s in circular economy receives funding
The proposal “EELISA-CE – Design and Development of an EELISA Joint Master Degree in Circular Economy”, submitted by Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) in cooperation with the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), has been selected for funding under the 1st EELISA Joint Academic Call 2026.
The project aims to develop a joint international master’s programme focusing on the challenges and opportunities of the circular economy. The initiative supports EELISA’s goals by promoting interdisciplinary education, international collaboration, and sustainability-oriented knowledge development.
According to the evaluators, the proposal is strongly aligned with the objectives of the call and presents a solid foundation for a future joint degree programme. The assessment highlighted the project’s academic quality, interdisciplinary approach, and realistic implementation plan, as well as the close cooperation between the partner institutions.
The project received a total requested budget of EUR 15,000, including EUR 10,000 for BME and EUR 5,000 for UPM. The funding will support the design and development of the programme, including curriculum development and academic coordination among the partners.
BME GTK congratulates Dr. Máté Zöldy, Full Professor, his project team, and the Department of Environmental Economics and Sustainability on this achievement and wishes them continued success in the development of the EELISA Joint Master’s Degree in Circular Economy.
This success further strengthens BME GTK’s active participation in the EELISA European University Alliance and its commitment to developing innovative international educational opportunities in the field of sustainability.
