European Universities join forces to develop the Data-driven Innovation and Management Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Programme
A consortium of five leading European higher education institutions participating in EELISA network has been awarded funding under the Erasmus+ KA2 – Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM) 2026 call to develop a new joint master’s programme entitled Data-Driven Innovation and Management.
The consortium brings together Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), and the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies (SSSA). The project combines complementary expertise in engineering, data science, innovation, management, and technology to create a distinctive European educational offer.
The main objective of the project is to design a high-quality joint master’s programme and prepare it for accreditation under the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes. Once this objective is achieved, the consortium aims to submit the programme to a future Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters call.
Although the grant has been awarded as a mono-beneficiary Erasmus+ project, with UPM acting as the coordinating and contracting institution, the programme is being jointly developed by all partner universities. Each institution will contribute its academic expertise to the design of the curriculum, governance model, quality assurance framework, student mobility pathways, and long-term sustainability strategy.
The Data-Driven Innovation and Management master’s programme is intended to equip future graduates with the interdisciplinary knowledge and skills required to lead innovation in a data-driven economy, combining advanced technical competences with management and entrepreneurial perspectives.
This award reflects the partners’ shared commitment to strengthening European cooperation in higher education and to developing innovative joint programmes that respond to emerging societal and industrial challenges.
