On 17 November 2020, we have the pleasure of inviting Dr. Ildikó Szegedy-Maszák (Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Bogota), who is going to give a Seminar session on Geopolitics of Today.
This seminar on ”Geopolitics of Today – 5G, Greentech and Trade” raises the question how the on-going Tech War challenges globalization. Which are the geopolitical implications of the US-China economic rivalry? And where the European Union stands in these battles? COVID-19 rescue packages in US and EU, as well as the new five-year plan in China are based on 5G and Greentech. All major geopolitical powerhouses follow similar development paths then? Although the economic sectors prioritized are similar, the public policy approaches are rather different. How traditional market economies can develop equilibrated trade relations with state managed economic systems is an important concern. Being critical, innovative and constructive are the main attitudes of our seminar to raise and discuss the most urgent questions of the international trading system and how trade regulation can contribute to manage increasing global conflicts.
