BME International Graduation Ceremony at our Faculty

2023.02.15.

132 graduates from 41 countries received their certificates at the international graduation ceremony hosted by our faculty.

Simonyi Hall of Building Q at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences (GTK) has had the honour of hosting the all-BME International Graduation Ceremony for the English-language Programme students of the university, held on 17th February 2023.

Among the 132 students (from all eight BME faculties) who received their diplomas, 41 countries were represented. The highest number of attendants came from China, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, Pakistan, and Brazil, while there were also university graduates from India, Egypt, and Nigeria. Family members of many also participated in the event, therefore the Simonyi Hall was filled with diverse international celebrants.

Among the students, 14 English-programme students graduated from GTK this semester. An important milestone for our graduates, the ceremony was a fitting final moment of their successful study period at BME.

The festive occasion consisted of celebratory speeches by Emília Csiszár, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of BME as well as by Roland Jakab, regional director of Ericsson, and the president of the Circle of Supporters and Friends of the University (MTBK) with a couple of graduates themselves addressing the graduating students.

Our students received their diploma certificates from Mária Szalmáné Csete as Vice-Dean of BME GTK.

If you are interested to find out more about the event including a video recording of the ceremony, please visit the BME central website here!

We are happy to share the farewell messages of two of our GTK graduates:

Juan Daniel Sanchez Guizar, MSc Finance

Dear Vice-Rectors, Faculty Deans, Professors, Family, Other Graduates,

It is an honor for me to express my congratulations to my fellow grads in this letter on behalf of my faculty, the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences. I’d like to take this chance to voice my appreciation to all the professors, teaching assistants, and administrators who have guided us along the journey. I feel so lucky to be one of your students.

Dear M.Sc. Finance class of 2023, I am elated to say we did it!

Today, it’s time to celebrate and be proud of yourself. I invite you to reflect on the entire journey that you took to get to this point.  We faced many obstacles as the pandemic, online classes while in Hungary or your home country with a different time zone, the switch to in-person classes, the language barrier, and for some of us, the need to extend our studies to pass one more subject. Despite all the challenges, our effort is finally paying off.

On the other hand, we also had amazing experiences. I am really grateful for being part of the M.Sc.  Finance program because it allowed me to meet all of you guys. I will never forget the joy that we had when we were traveling together, partying on weekends, and helping each other in studies.  This master would not be as special as it was if you were not part of it. The diversity of the class is what made it unique. Now, we not only leave the University with a Diploma but with a bunch of memories, friends, colleagues and even a bigger family.

I am wishing you good luck and all the best because the adventure has not finished but started! My congratulations.

Keep dreaming big dreams. I leave you with one final task if you do not know Spanish and the words of Frida Kahlo “Pies para qué los quiero si tengo alas para volar”. Now that you have the knowledge fly the highest possible to achieve your goals. Once again CONGRATULATIONS!

Juan Daniel Sanchez Guizar

Ge Chenhe, MSc Finance

Honorable Rector, Vice-Rectors, Dean, Vice-Deans, Directors, Professors, Families, Friends, and the class of 2023,

It is a great honor for me to express my congratulations to the class of 2023 on behalf of my Faculty, the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences. I would like to take this chance to express my appreciation to all professors, teaching assistants, and all administrators who guided us along the journey. I feel so lucky to be one of the students at Budapest University of Technology and Economics!

Dear Graduates, I want to give a big congratulations to everyone, including myself, we finally did it! The world that we live in is filled with dangers, COVID-19, global warming, failed exams, etc. Despite all the odds, we still manage to graduate, so let us give us a big round of applause! Charles Dickens said: “It was the best of time, it was the worst of time, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness.” But no matter how, today we will be done with our career as a student and it is the time for us to take the world, to find and pursue our passions, to quote-unquote leave a legacy!

Tomorrow, all of us will welcome a new life. No matter what the road ahead is, it is waiting for us to leave footprints. It may not be perfect, but it is the real life. Please always remember that the opportunity to achieve greatness is always within our grasp. I hope that you will remain positive, optimistic, humble, and grateful for the rest of your life, to leave those with whom you cross paths with little more happiness and hope.

Finally, I would like to say congratulations again and the year and a half I spent with the class 2023 at BME was splendid and unforgettable. I wish you all the very, very, very best from the bottom of my heart!

Ge Chenhe
