Become a GTK Ambassador!

After the pandemic, the opportunity to visit foreign universities as a GTK colleague has reopened: to build or maintain contacts, to initiate dialogue on joint projects, research and opportunities, or to meet with staff from our partner universities in the spirit of knowledge sharing. Internationalisation is of paramount importance for our faculty, which is why we are constantly seeking new opportunities to strengthen these links. As a result of this, the GTK Ambassador Programme (among others) was born.

From February 2023 our faculty members and the administrative staff supporting them in their work have been given the opportunity to bring various GTK professional information materials, souvenirs, brochures, etc. to their partners during their trips abroad. We are delighted that 16 of our Ambassadors have already spread the good word of our Faculty in the first 7 months of the programme, which is a testament to its success. In total, our 12 teaching staff and 4 administrative staff have travelled to 9 countries: from the Nordic countries (Finland, Norway) to neighbouring countries (Romania, Austria) and further afield (Cyprus, France, Spain, Ireland, Belgium).

Almost as many colleagues visited abroad in 2024 as in the first year, bringing the Faculty’s reputation to the world. Interest from colleagues therefore remains unabated. Within the framework of the 11 faculty mobility schemes that have been implemented, several GTK faculty members have travelled to the Netherlands and Finland to learn innovative teaching pedagogies, to conduct joint research with partners and to give lectures to foreign students. On their return, they will put their experience in teaching and research back into their work, from which GTK students will benefit. In addition to sharing the education taking place at BME GTK, our colleagues have visited Greece, France, Sweden and Lithuania to strengthen links between institutions and explore new opportunities for cooperation. We are proud that 5 of our administrative staff also participated in staff mobility: they attended courses to improve their English language skills and exchanged experiences with colleagues in similar jobs.

We are very pleased that 9 mobilities have already been agreed for the months January-February 2025. After a promising start of the year we look forward to seeing many of our colleagues abroad as GTK Ambassadors for the rest of the year.

The programme was funded by the project “RRF-2.1.2-21-2022-00005, Infrastructure and Skills Development for Practice-Oriented Higher Education at BME”.
