More than 200 students received their diplomas at the English language graduation ceremony of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics

2024.08.13.

On 26 July 2024, students graduating from BME’s English language programmes in 2024 received their diplomas. 219 students – including 34 GTK students, 15 of whom received degrees with excellence- received their diplomas at the international graduation ceremony. The students came from more than 50 countries.

The ceremony which was held in the lobby of the building K of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, was attended by graduates and faculty leaders, as well as representatives of several embassies concerned. Eszter Mozsár, Rector’s Personal Secretary, first invited András Nemeslaki, Vice Rector for International Affairs, to welcome the graduates. Then Katalin Ivanov, HR Director of Schneider Electric Hungary, a strategic partner of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, congratulated the graduates. In addition to congratulating the graduates, Gergely László Vigh, Director of the Directorate of Foreign Language Education, thanked the parents, family members and friends of the graduates for their unwavering support. Last but not least, Dóra Baranyai, responsible for foreign affairs, bid farewell to the graduates on behalf of the University Student Representation.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Al Araj Ahmad Fathi Mohammad (Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences) recalled how it seemed like only yesterday they were wandering the labyrinthine corridors of Building K, nervously searching for their first lectures. He thanked the professors who guided the foreign students along the way, and finished by saying, “We did it!”

After the speeches, the representatives of the faculties – in the order of their foundation – awarded the diplomas.

The diplomas were awarded by Dr. Mária Szalmáné Csete, Vice Dean for International Affairs, to the students of the GTK, 17 of whom graduated from the Finance Master Programme in English, 3 of the Regional and Environmental Economics Master Programme in English and 14 of the Management and Leadership Master Programme in English.

Congratulations to the graduates of our English language programmes and welcome them to the GTK International Alumni!
