We are delighted to announce that the Master in Management and Leadership and Master in Finance at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), Hungary, have received EFMD Programme Accreditation for three years.

In their assessment, the peer review team noted several positive aspects of BME’s management programmes, underscoring their commitment to academic excellence, internationalisation, and practical relevance.

Barbara Sporn, EFMD Programme Accreditation Director, commented:

“We are proud to recognise these two Master programmes at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics for their commitment to excellence. Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences (GTK) at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME)

The Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences (GTK) at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), founded in 1998, stands as a leading institution in Hungary specialising in business, economics, and social sciences. As the youngest faculty of BME, which has a history spanning over 240 years, GTK seamlessly integrates into the university’s interdisciplinary environment, fostering synergies between technology, economics, and social sciences.

GTK offers a diverse range of programmes, including six full-time Bachelor of Science (BSc) and five full-time Master of Science (MSc) programmes in Hungarian and four full-time Master’s programmes in English, designed for both Hungarian and international students. The Doctoral School of Business and Management further expands academic opportunities, offering Ph.D. studies in engineering management, management sciences, and business economics in both Hungarian and English.

The Faculty’s commitment to internationalisation is demonstrated through its membership in esteemed organisations such as EFMD, the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), the CFA Institute, and the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI). Additionally, GTK actively participates in the European Engineering Learning Innovation and Science Alliance (EELISA), collaborating with prominent institutions across Europe.

Emphasising innovation, GTK equips students with contemporary knowledge and skills to navigate the evolving business and social environments of the future. The Faculty’s interdisciplinary approach, combined with strong industry partnerships and a global outlook, ensures that graduates are well-prepared to tackle the complex challenges of the 21st century.

Master in Management and Leadership & Master in Finance

The EFMD Programme Accreditation Review Board has recognised several notable strengths in the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences at Budapest University of Technology and Economics, leading to the accreditation of its Management and Leadership and Master of Finance programmes.

The Accreditation Board commended the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences for attracting an international, ambitious, and entrepreneurial student body to its Master in Management and Leadership course. Similarly, the Board acknowledged the Master in Finance programme’s established reputation in the markets it serves, along with its diverse international student body.

A key strength of both programmes is their robust academic foundation, supported by a faculty dedicated to high-quality teaching and research. The review team specifically highlighted the well-structured curricula, which effectively balance theoretical knowledge with practical application. The Management and Leadership programme was praised for its focus on developing strategic thinking and leadership competencies, equipping students with the skills necessary for dynamic business environments. In contrast, the Master in Finance programme was lauded for its rigorous approach to financial analysis and risk management, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for careers in finance.

Both programmes benefit from strong industry connections, providing students with valuable real-world insights through guest lectures, collaborative projects, and internship opportunities. The Accreditation Board also recognised the Faculty’s commitment to maintaining an international perspective, integrating global best practices into the curriculum and fostering a global outlook among students.

The University’s commitment to continuous improvement and responsiveness to stakeholder feedback was another positive aspect highlighted during the accreditation process. These factors, along with the dedication of faculty and administrative staff, further reinforced the Board’s decision to grant programme accreditation.

Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences Budapest University of Technology and Economics Professor Dr. Koltai Tamás commented:

“The successful accreditation of our two Master’s programmes confirms that our educational processes meet the standards of top international business programmes. This recognition enhances the prestige and attractiveness of our programmes while strengthening our competitiveness in both the global and Hungarian education markets. The accreditation process itself has been a remarkable journey, unlocking new opportunities for further progress.”
