The BME Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences has reached a significant international milestone: the official, ceremonial presentation of the EFMD programme accreditation – granted in early March 2025 – took place at the EFMD Annual Conference, held from June 1–3, 2025, in Munich. During this prestigious event, two of our master’s programmes, MSc in Finance and MSc in Management and Leadership, officially joined the international community of excellence programmes that represent outstanding academic quality in business and management education.

Programme accreditation awarded by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) is one of the most prestigious international recognitions in higher education. It evaluates educational programmes including strategic focus, international embeddedness, partnerships, teaching methodologies, and student experience, based on a comprehensive set of criteria. At the Award Ceremony, BME GTK was represented by Dean Dr. Tamás Koltai and colleagues who played key roles in the accreditation process – among them, Vice Dean Dr. Mária Szalmáné Csete, responsible for the international programme accreditation, as well as the directors and coordinators of the accredited master’s programmes.

At the Munich event, representatives from leading higher education institutions around the world shared their experiences regarding the challenges of future business education and the possibilities of linking education with societal impact. The EFMD Annual Conference served not only as a venue for the presentation of awards but also as an inspiring intellectual forum, where the representatives of BME GTK prepared the ground for several new international collaboration opportunities.

The EFMD accreditation of the two master’s programmes is the result of a long and thorough self-assessment and audit process, in which the Faculty’s leadership, faculty members, current students, alumni, and corporate partners all played an active role. The Award Ceremony made official what our domestic and international partners have long experienced: BME GTK’s programmes are competitive, future-oriented, and deliver real value to both students and the labour market.
