Project pilot action blogpost 4. – First University Living Lab session in the framework of the Sustainable Business Model Design course

Implementation of the pilot action “Co-creation for more circular cities at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics” related to the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE NiCE project of the Department of Environmental Economics and Sustainable Development of BME, Part 4: First University Living Lab session in the framework of the Sustainable Business Model Design

Within the framework of the NiCE project, the BME Department of Environmental Economics and Sustainability is working together with the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development to develop solutions that help consumers integrate circular economy principles into their everyday lives. Within this framework, the department announced various workshops (European Researchers’ Night 2024, Intensive Seminar of the Master programmes of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences (GTK)). Closely related to the pilot implementation is the Sustainable Business Model Design course in the spring term of the 2024/2025 academic year, where groups of students from the Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Management, and Management and Leadership programs can work together with different organizations.

On February 25, 2025, the first Living Lab session took place within the framework of the class, where the representatives of our partners (“Ligeti” Package Free Shop and the FKF Educational and Reuse Center) introduced themselves to the students. The presentations were followed by a lively exchange of ideas, and at the end of the lesson, the working groups were formed. During the semester, students will visit the partners’ sites several times, while continuously consulting with the lecturers of the subject about their progress. The first step is to explore the business model of the partners and identify the sustainability challenge they will address in the second half of the semester.

More information about our partners is also available via the Virtual Exhibition of Good Practices of the NiCE project, available here: https://www.interreg-central.eu/news/virtual-exhibition/
