2nd International Erasmus Staff Week at BME

2026.06.05.

The Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) hosted the 2nd Erasmus Staff Week between 4–8 May 2026. The event brought together 26 participants from 20 universities across 9 European countries: France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Latvia, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Romania, and Spain.

This event focused on “Go Create and Be Curious!” and brought together university colleagues from across Europe from cities such as Bremen, Alicante, Limerick, Erlangen-Nuremberg, Riga, Seville, and Salerno.

The event offered a dynamic programme designed to foster exchange, learning, and collaboration among international colleagues and to explore key topics such as sustainable technology and management, intercultural competences, and best practices in internationalization.

The dynamic agenda provided insight into BME’s engagement within EELISA, showcasing its communities and activities, while addressing practical aspects such as Erasmus Without Paper and student recruitment strategies. In addition, participants had the chance to discover Budapest’s rich built heritage.

The Staff Week also featured a workshop on artificial intelligence, an introduction to the European University Association EELISA, a robot demonstration, and a visit to the university’s research reactor, high-voltage laboratory, library, and wind tunnel.

The event provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange, networking, and strengthening international cooperation, while also offering cultural experiences, including a gala dinner and a boat trip in Budapest, adding a cultural dimension to the experience.

BME Staff Week will take place next year as well, and the date has already been set: May 3-7 2027.
